Golf Background

I grew up playing golf at Mabel Lake Golf & Airpark, 25 minutes outside of Enderby B.C, my dad introduced me to the game at 2 and a half where I started to swing plastic clubs around in my back yard. I got my first junior membership at Kelowna Golf & Country Club where I played as a junior for 5 years. Later on I started to focus all my attention to golf where I was apart of the performance academy at the Okanagan Golf Club for 3 years, where I would train 3 times a week and play golf events almost every weekend!

What skills are you most excited about coaching this season? What impact will this have on the Op36 players?

I am most excited about coaching all the skills, each skill we touch on in Op 36 is equally as important for our players to become the best versions of themselves. These skills will have a significant impact on our students and their journey as athletes. Teaching them the physical skills attached to the game, as well as, mental strategies which will help them grow as players, and as human beings!

What do you love most about Operation36 and why do you feel it is such an effective way to introduce beginners to the game of golf?

I believe that Operation 36 is such an effective framework because of how it guides athletes in their training, and how it allows athletes to find and create success very early on into the program. With having excellent coaches who are always prepared and organized, we create an environment that allows for successful learning to take place. Also, having athletes start from such a close proximity to the hole, is a much more efficient way for our players to become confident, see results, and overall enjoy their time playing golf!

Justin Towill - Support Coach

I grew up playing at the Okanagan golf club when I was really young, playing and learning the game from my dad. I joined Kelowna golf and country club when I was around 13. I love the unpredictable nature of golf is and how every round is different!

I love that Operation 36 is a fun way to teach beginners the game, with the various tests and games they take and play to show them their progress and what they need to do to get better.

Garret Brinker - Support Coach

Golf has given me the opportunity to meet so many amazing people and forge friendships that'll last a lifetime. I’ll never get tired of playing the game but at the end of the day, how it brings people together is what I love most about golf!

Operation 36 has found a way to ease entry into golf and make it more friendly for beginners.  Providing tasks skills, and playing grounds that are relative to your experience in the game.  Golf can be an intimidating game at times.  I believe OP 36 takes the perfect approach to make it fun/enjoyable while ensuring progress is attainable and trackable.

Thomas MacLean - Support Coach

What I love most about golf is being outside when the sun is shining and enjoying my time with friends or meeting new people!

I love coaching through the Operation 36 program because, just like Tiger said, players should start at the green and work backwards, that is how I learned to golf and I believe that it is the most effective way to teach the game. It allows players to gradually grow their skills and gain more skills as they are ready. But the most important skills are learned first with putting/chipping.

Mason McLennan - Support Coach

My favorite thing about the game of golf is the opportunities it has presented me. I have met so many wonderful people through the game and have been able to travel and play many beautiful courses all around British Columbia.

The thing I love most about Operation 36 is that it creates a perfect balance to learning the game of golf for all skill levels. The idea of progressing through different stages is great for introducing beginners to the game of golf as it allows them to focus on their weaknesses and provides realistic expectations for progressing through the complicated and unforgiving game of golf.
